What To Expect

Here is what you can expect during the audition process:

Please be aware that the audition process may take a total of one to two hours.  However, it can take as little as fifteen minutes.  If your parent/guardian is driving you, please ask them to wait for you while you audition.

The audition process is broken down into several steps in order to provide our aspiring performers and their families the best possible introduction to performing with Copperstar.

Information Meeting

Every show begins with an Informational Meeting for performers and their parent(s)/guardian(s). During this meeting, you will meet the director and veteran parents will speak about their experiences with Copperstar, and will explain what to expect during the course of a production for the performers and their families.

Participants will receive a Copperstar Audition Packet and Conflict Calendar  Before moving onto the auditions, all forms must be completed.

Schedule an Audition Time

The next step would be to schedule an audition time.  Appointments will be taken via email at casting@copperstarrep.org , phone at (480)699-1655 or in person following the Informational Meeting.

Audition

Each appointment is just 5 minutes in length, but that will give us time to meet you and to hear you sing.  Arrive 10 minutes early, turn in your completed Audition Packet and Conflict Calendar and have your photo taken.  Be sure to bring your sheet music.  An accompanist will be provided.

We try to make auditions as friendly and relaxed as possible, but they can still be intimidating.  Just try to remember that we are completely on your side.  We want you to do well and feel successful.  The more prepared you are, the better you will feel, so rehearse your song in front of others so that you can relax and have fun.

Each performer will come into the room on their own give the accompanist their selection, introduce themselves and sing their song.  If we need or want to see more from you, we will ask you to attend callbacks.

Callbacks

After the initial audition, performers may be asked to come back to audition further for specific roles.  You may be notified at the audition, via email or telephone.  At this callback, you may also be asked to dance, sing from the score or read from the script.  If you are not called back, you may still be cast in the show. The director of the show will let everyone know when the final cast list will be posted.

If your have a conflict with the callback auditions, please inform the director at the time of your audition.

Registration

Once you are cast in the production, you will be contacted via email or telephone.  At that time, you will need to register and pay your participation fee for the production through Higley Community Education.  This can be done in person or via the internet, but must be completed by 3pm on the first day of rehearsals.  Specific instructions will be provided to the cast in their Cast Notification email.
