Copperstar we train Summer Musical Theatre Intensive training program for young artists, Copperstar Repertory Co. will offer summer programs in October, March and June during school intercessions.

The Musical Theatre Camps and Intensives, under the direction of Copperstar’s Artistic Producing Director Mary-Jo Okawa, are fun, yet intensive theatre training programs designed exclusively for motivated young artists who are serious about the arts and musical theatre.

The Copperstar Camp staff is comprised of professional directors, choreographers, musicians and designers. Each session involves daily rehearsals structured like a professional summer stock experience and includes instruction in musical theatre techniques, dance and vocal coaching. The two-week workshop concludes with a public workshop performance of a selected musical or musical revue on stage.

FunTales Camps are for young performers, ages 5-8 and includes storytelling, improvisations, puppetry and imaginative play. Students will become more confident and adept at creative expression in a fun, supportive environment. They will experience professional instruction in singing, movement and acting and family and friends are invited to the final class to participate and experience what their students have learned.

INTENSIVES are for actors and actresses ages 15 and up. Auditions for Copperstar’s Summer Intensives will be held a month prior to camps. Candidates will be asked to prepare a one minute monologue and 16 bars of a song (an accompanist will be provided). Those auditioning may also be asked to return for an additional movement and callback audition.

Please note that participation in last year’s program does not guarantee admission to the 2012 program.
